Nice (20 mn de Thalassoleil)

Nicknamed « Nissa la bella », Nice is the 5th largest French city. It has always attracted many artists and tourists. Its main symbol is the Promenade des Anglais that embraces the Baie des Anges along 5km of beaches.

Nice has a very interesting history. It is only part of the French territory since June 14th, 1860. Go and walk around the old town, it is very pleasant during the day time but also in the evenings. You will discover the history of Nice as well as a variety of small shops and restaurants. You may hear people speak « nissart » which is a dialect which sounds like italian. The old town has a very rich nightlife.
     
You will find all the high street stores on the rue Jean Médecin as well as the « Nice Etoile » mall.The flower market and the fruit, vegetable and fish market of the cours Saleya are a must.
Nice has attracted many artists such as Matisse. Guided visits of the town will enable you to better understand the development of the city and to discover buildinds such as the ruins of the castle, the Roman fortress, the Promenade des anglais with the famous Negresco hotel. In the Russian area is located the St Nicholas cathedral. 
     
The city of Nice offers a variety of museums : the Tera Amata museum is built on an archeological site, the museum of Asian Arts, the Matisse Museum on the hights of Cimiez, the national Marc Chagall muséum, the MAMAC (Modern Art Museum.)…
 Nice is also the capital of provençal gastronomy : olive oil, garlic, mediterranean vegetables but also socca, a delicious chick peas pancake that is the true identifty of the city. As well as the famous ratatouille, the petits farcis niçois (stuffed vegetables with meat), the pissaladière (oignon tart), the renowned« salade niçoise » or the famous sandwich called Pan Bagnat.
